Next Five in Five : 5 New Technologies

（ＩＢＭ）最近公布第四屆「未來五年的五大創新」（Next Five in Five）預測報告，鑒於人類城市化趨勢日益顯著，去年居住在城市的人口更首次超過全球總人口的半數，今年預測未來五年可能改變城市人類生活、工作和遊戲方式的五大創新科技。

一、城市將擁有更健康的免疫機制：由於人口密度不斷增長，城市持續成為疾病和疫情傳染的溫床。不過，「健康網路」（health internet）緊急系統將提供市政府、醫院、學校和工作場所更佳的監測、追蹤和預防機制。

二。「智慧建築」（smart buildings）的趨勢已然展開:未來新科技將管理建築物內部，包括暖氣、飲用水、汙水處理和供電等系統。在器材損毀前便可自動回報，其緊急裝置也可立即反應，而消費者和企業主可透過監測，節省能源和減少碳排放量。

三、電動汽車和巴士將日益普及：以非石化燃料為動力，相較於氫氣和生質燃料等新能源，ＩＢＭ看好效能提升後的電動車電池，可望成為最受歡迎的綠色能源。新一代的電動車電池將可數日甚至數個月不需充電，一次充電可行駛四百八十至八百公里。

四、智慧的系統用水：城市對水的需求在未來五十年將增加六倍，為此，城市將建立智慧型供水系統，節省五○％的水資源浪費。而先進的淨水科技將可幫助城市在當地將湖泊和河流的水資源淨化為飲用水，並且循環和再利用水資源，而預計輸送飲用水的能源消耗可減少二○％。

五、城市可迅速對事故或危機做出反應ＩＢＭ並未明說此一科技系統將如何建立。

Personal reflection of Facebook

Personally, I think it is a waste of time to wonder around in the Facebook for a real person who has real friends in contact in the real world.

However, in the social network, there are several different kinds of relationships, which include very close one, fair close one, middle, and farther relationships. For some people who do sales and marketing business would use Facebook to gather a party, conference, or make announcements. For some business, non-profit organization, or celebrities, Facebook is an international / web platform to do propaganda and advertisement. It is the by-product of Web 2.0 and a good one which value a big money I think. One day, it will be like yahoo going on list ....I presume...

I am a facebook user and I did meet couple friends sharing similar interests overseas,( such as music, Buddhism...) with real names attached to it. Some of them may want to visit Taiwan or we might plan to go for a particular event, such as Buddhism Retreat.

Facebook is a good business model for social network I would say, only if you know how use it properly.

"Angels and Demons" 2 : Antimatter

Two controversial issues have been discussed in the book:

1. The Illuminati feared that if religion continued to promote pious myth as absolute fact, scientific progress would halt, and mankind will be doomed to an ignorant future senseless holy wars. However, there has no history of their existence for over half a century, and many scholars agree the Illuminati has been defunct for many years. Their central covenant is the obliteration of Christianity, but they wielded their power through political and financial means, not through terrorists acts.

2 Matter is nothing but trapped energy . Antimatter is the most powerful energy source known to man. It releases energy with 100 percent efficiency ( nuclear fission is 1.5 percent efficient). Antimatter creates no pollution or radiation , and a droplet could power New York City for a full day.

"Antimatter" is made up of elementary particles, each of which has the same mass as their corresponding matter counterparts –protons, neutrons and electrons — but the opposite charges and magnetic properties. When matter and antimatter particles collide, they annihilate each other and produce energy according to Einstein’s famous equation, E=mc2.

According to the Big Bang model, the Universe was awash in particles of both matter and antimatter shortly after the Big Bang. Most of this material annihilated, but because there was slightly more matter than antimatter – less than one part per billion – only matter was left behind, at least in the local Universe

The Singularity is Near....

為迎接電腦比人腦聰明的時代，網路業巨擘Google公司和美國太空總署（NASA）決定合作，支持在矽谷辦一所培養未來學家的學校。
英國金融時報3日報導，這間奇點大學（Singularity University）由發明家兼未來學家柯茲威爾（Ray Kurzweil）領導，他曾預測電腦科技將超越人腦，因而成為爭議性人物。
而Google和NASA合作辦校，等於支持柯茲威爾認為在本世紀中葉前人工智慧將超越人類的看法。
校址位在NASA的艾姆士研究中心，距Google總部僅一箭之遙。
奇點大學將會提供生物科技、奈米科技、人工智慧方面的課程。
奇點（Singularity）是指未來科技快速進展到一個理論上的時刻，此詞彙因柯茲威爾2005年出版「奇點迫近」（The Singularity is Near）一書而知名。到奇點時，機器可經由人工智慧自我進化，而比人腦聰明的電腦也可解決包括能源短缺、氣候變遷、飢餓等問題。有些人則擔心懷有惡意的人工智慧會把人類給消滅。
柯茲威爾表示，選在此時際創校，是因現在已很接近他所謂的奇點。
